Wildsuits eco-friendly wetsuits
In order to replace the petrochemical materials contained in common wetsuits, Wilduits uses a more ecofriendly alternative: Limestone neoprene. This neoprene is derived from limestone, a material of natural origin, allowing the Wildsuits wetsuits to limit their ecological footprint. There are many limestone neoprenes available on the market, but we simply use the best.
More environmentally friendly wetsuit components:
Wildsuits wetsuits use a second component called "Eco carbon Black". This component enhances the robustness and longevity of Wildsuits products. Like "Carbon Black Pigment", a similar component (used by the less eco-friendly wetsuits) and not recycled, "Eco Carbon Black" is made from recycled tires. Knowing that each year more than 1.5 billion used tires are abandoned or burned, this recycling helps to reduce the environmental impact of Wildsuits wetsuits while maintaining high quality components.
Giving a second life to polluting products is therefore totally in line with the brand's ecological approach.
The use of used tyres reduces air pollution by limiting the emission of pollutants (CO2, SO2, NO2₂, VOCs) by 80%.
We have substituted the traditional solvent-based glue for a new, patented, environmentally friendly technology: water-based lamination. This has the same functional properties as solvent-based glue, but with no harmful chemicals.
A wide selection of the fabrics contained in the suits are knitted polyester yarns made from recycled plastic bottles. This helps to reduce both waste and material consumption at the same time.
Compared with other pigmentation techniques, "Dope Dyes Yarns" infuses dye pigments into a molten plastic solution to produce coloured yarns without the dyeing process. This reduces water pollution and saves 60% of water and energy consumption compared to traditional dyeing machines and methods.
Wildsuits has chosen, tested and selected manufacturing techniques and products that are designed to be durable and hardwearing, therefore increasing the average life span of the wetsuit (We've even tested our suits in the giant waves of Nazaré in Portugal).
Wildsuits eco-friendly wetsuits are suitable for the majority of water sports. In fact, the Wildsuits team riders practice various sports at an international level, including:
Throughout the years, with the feedback and help of our riders, the Wildsuits team have developed a wetsuit that lives up to all our Wildsuits riders expectations, allowing them to practice their sports at the highest level. It was really important for Wildsuits to create a premium and versatile wetsuit that surpassed expectations and we are proud of the final product.
An eco-friendly and certified wetsuit
In addition to being ecological and environmentally friendly, the Limestone neoprene used in the Wildsuits wetsuits has many certifications:
- ISO 9001: this standard ensures product quality and consistency through quality management.
- Fair Trade Certified: this certification attests to the respect of fair trade in the production line of Wildsuits wetsuits. Thus improving millions of lives, protecting territories & waterways.
- Global Recycled standard: this standard controls the respect of the production of products from recycled materials.
- WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production): WRAP is an NGO whose aim is to promote legal, humane and ethical production around the globe.
Another aspect in our commitment to protecting the environment is that Wildsuits wetsuits are manufactured using more than 60% solar energy. Solar panels are installed on the roofs of production facilities to provide green energy, making production even more eco-friendly.
